An watercolour from 1809, “A Savoy Scene” by William Turner, was the centrepiece of the exhibition. The photograph shows William Celement of Hatton Road viewing a painting by Sidney Causer.

A public centenary appeal and national grants were helping to pay for “Chestnuts”, by Stanley Spencer. The photograph shows Yvonne Reynolds from Bilston (left) and Angie Round from Highley modelling T-shirts which were being sold to help the appeal.
