- Additional Information: Junior doctors at four Sandwell hospitals (Hallam Hospital and the District, West Bromwich, Moxley Hospital and Heath Lane Hospital) were only treating emergency cases after more than 45 doctors began a 24-hour strike over overtime pay rates. Eric Bradbury of the Sandwell Area Health Authority is quoted. The photograph shows an unamed doctor reading a newspaper near a row of unused white coats.
